Turn Lyme Green’s Boomerang Bags Scheme has been chosen as first UN Sustainable Development Goal target for climate and environmental action in Lyme Regis.
We are delighted that Turn Lyme Green is launching the Boomerang Bag scheme which we feel perfectly captures the energy and goodwill of our local community in wanting to deal with an environmental problem in a very positive and proactive way. The scheme will involve local people working together to offer a benefit to residents and visitors to improve their experience shopping in Lyme so reducing the need for plastic bags.
The One Planet Working Group will register the Boomerang Bag scheme under UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 – Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns – under Target 12.5: By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.
The Boomerang Bag scheme will be the first of many community projects and initiatives the OPWG will be registering with the UN to help Lyme Regis work towards our climate and environmental goal for Lyme Regis to transition towards zero carbon emissions by 2030.
